Thank you for making the effort to get all the way down to San Miguel de Allende. We know it’s a trek, but we promise to make the weekend special once you’re there.

In the coming months, we’ll collect everyone’s travel info in order to help set up airport shuttles and more.

We want to do everything we can to make this trip stress-free, so please reach out to Birju (630.544.9829) or Shraddha (515.229.7673) with absolutely any questions.

Weekend Logistics

San Miguel de Allende doesn’t have a dedicated airport, but there are 3 nearby airports:

We recommend flying into Leon (BJX) or Queretaro (QRO), which are both about 90 minutes from San Miguel de Allende.

We will be providing transportation from both BJX and QRO to San Miguel de Allende. We’ll collect everyone’s flight information prior to the weekend, and your driver will be waiting for you upon arrival.

While the region is very safe, we do recommend trying to arrive by 7-8pm so you’re not driving late at night. Regardless of time, transportation will be available.

Mexico City (MEX) is your other option. There are many direct flights into MEX, but it is about a 3.5 hour drive to San Miguel de Allende. If you’re planning on going this route, there are some great luxury coach bus options to make the trip easier. If you have the time, spending a few days in Mexico City is a great way to extend the trip - we’re happy to provide recommendations!

Getting There

Flights

Most cities are served with affordable direct flights to BJX or QRO via a Mexican airline, either Volaris or VivaAerobus. While these are budget airlines, our Volaris flights have been pleasant and on-time, and the price and non-stop journey were unbeatable.

A note on booking with Volaris and VivaAerobus: Often, there will be more flight options available on their own website than Google/Expedia/etc. are listing. They also fly out of secondary airports at times (Oakland, San Jose, Midway) so keep your search broad.

Flights prices are currently fairly low so we recommend booking as soon as you know you’re coming. We’ve collected some good flight options from our most common cities.

  • Volaris direct ORD>BJX
    Thurs 3/20, 630am - 930am

    Sunday 3/22
    Volaris direct BJX>MDW 4pm-8pm
    or direct QRO > ORD 6pm - 11pm

  • Fly Volaris direct to BJX from either Oakland or San Jose.

  • There are options through United and American Airlines. Flights can be more affordable leaving Wednesday or returning Monday.

San Miguel de Allende

San Miguel de Allende is a small, very walkable city. Almost all of our events will take place in the heart of the city, all within a 5-10 minute walk.

Although we don’t have a single room block, there are many beautiful small boutique hotels and vacation rentals throughout the city. They’re a great way to experience SMA.

We very much recommend AirBnB in San Miguel — the houses are stunning, very affordable, and typically include service and breakfast. For those that prefer hotels, there are a wide range of options. Linked below is a collection of our favorite AirBnBs and hotels at different capacities and price points. Where possible, we also included a discount code. We recommend booking ahead as March is peak season. Most AirBnBs and hotels will offer free cancellations.

For the most convenience, we recommend staying anywhere on the map above. On the morning of the wedding, we’ll have multiple pick-up points in town. As a reference - the beautiful walk from Jardin Allende to Parque Juarez is 8 mins & 0.3mi
